Meet Your Specialist!
Crystal Godette (OTR/L, CAPS, CFPS) is an Occupational therapist, Certified Aging In Place specialist and Certified Fall Prevention Specialist. During her travels throughout the USA as a traveling therapist, Crystal treated patients who had fallen at home, were seriously injured, and even left on the floor for days because they could not call for help and had no emergency plan for such situations. When it came time for discharge, Crystal noticed a trend in the questions her patients would ask before leaving. Some of those questions were, “what can I do at home to feel safer? How can I stay at home and avoid being moved to a nursing facility? If an emergency happens again what can my family and I do to be more prepared next time? If I have a fall, what is a safe way for me to get up if I can?” After noticing this trend of questions, Crystal dedicated herself to becoming an Aging in Place Specialist and Fall Prevention Specialist to help patients and their families solve these problems. Thus, Therapendence was born.
Therapendence was created to consult with the elderly, caregivers, and people with disabilities on the best ways to promote accessibility both in the home and community. We are committed to creating spaces where citizens maintain their quality of life and age safely, gracefully, and independently.
